It’s unbelievable! I haven’t blogged here in almost a year. The reasons are twofold
1. I blog on multiple platforms (see Why, Where, and What I Write, to which I have added Medium.com).
2. I had some more health challenges again last year (this latest stuff is behind me for good this time).
But I still really like CogZest. It’s historically my first blogging platform, and while professional, it is also the most personal.
Part of the problem with writing in so many different places is that there’s no consolidated place from which I can review everything I’ve written for a given year. I’m an information management nut (I did, after all, design one of the most innovative information management apps for macOS, Hookmark if I do say so myself, which will be available on iPhone and iPad later this year); so I really should have an index of my writing. To be fair, I use a number of techniques, including ones involving Hookmark, to keep track of my writing (for instance, using Hookmark I bookmark and hook everything I write). But I should go further than this.
I’ve long been toying with this solution: turn this blog into an aggregator. Whenever I blog somewhere, I will include a link to and summary of it here. That doesn’t solve the problem of my past writing, but I don’t think any historian will want to piece it all together anyway. I, however, may find it helpful to have this aggregation.
I pledge to also continue to write some original, CogZest first, content here.
I will get into the more systematic habit of applying the “my-posts” tag in Hookmark to bookmarks of my posts. Hookmark syncs my bookmarks to my Pinboard account. (It can also sync to Pocket, Instapaper, Goodlinks and Linkding, but I don’t use them. There’s only so much archiving one needs.)
